The Director of Fundraising Strategy is responsible for leading the organization’s overall resource development and fundraising strategy, while overseeing and optimizing the Moves Management process across the entire fundraising team. The role ensures that fundraising strategy, donor pipeline management, and hands-on fundraising execution are fully aligned to achieve annual and long-term revenue goals.
This position combines strategic leadership with direct management of fundraising professionals, including FRD Strategy Directors and frontline fundraisers, and works in close partnership with senior leadership, support services, and program teams.
Key Responsibilities
Resource Development & Fundraising Strategy
- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive resource development and fundraising strategy aligned with the organization’s mission, priorities, and long-term goals.
- Collaborate closely with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) to define fundraising priorities, revenue targets, and strategic focus areas.
- Translate organizational and programmatic priorities into clear fundraising strategies and actionable plans.
Moves Management & Donor Pipeline Oversight
- Oversee and continuously improve the Moves Management process across the fundraising department.
- Ensure a structured, data-driven, and strategic approach to donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Work closely with fundraisers to analyze, strengthen, and optimize individual donor pipelines in support of annual fundraising goals.
Team Leadership & Management
- Manage and mentor a team of FRD Strategy Directors (3–4), each responsible for specific content or strategic areas.
- Directly manage a team of frontline fundraisers, providing professional guidance, performance oversight, and strategic support.
- Build a strong, collaborative fundraising culture focused on accountability, learning, and results.
- Support team development through coaching, feedback, and ongoing professional growth.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with support services and program teams to ensure fundraising strategies are aligned with mission delivery and organizational priorities.
- Serve as a key strategic partner to internal stakeholders, ensuring seamless integration between fundraising efforts and programmatic activities.
- Education: BA in a relevant field – required; MA – an advantage.
- Fundraising & Resource Development Expertise: Proven experience in fundraising strategy development, donor pipeline management, Moves Management, and/or hands-on fundraising.
- Leadership & Team Management: Demonstrated experience managing and developing both strategy-focused professionals and frontline fundraisers.
- Strategic Thinking & Execution: Ability to combine high-level strategic planning with practical implementation and measurable outcomes.
- Expertise in Data Analysis and FRD processes
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong ability to work cross-functionally with senior leadership, fundraisers, and support teams.
- Languages: High-level proficiency in English (verbal and written); Hebrew – an advantage.
- Project & Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Technical Skills: Experience working with CRM systems for donor management – an advantage.
